A Puryn Heat Pump takes heat from the outdoor air and puts it into your water, the way an AC works in reverse. Our 10 kW model gives 10 kW of heat for 2.5 kW of electricity, so it uses roughly a quarter of the power an electric geyser needs for the same hot water. It heats water to 55°C, up to 60°C, day and night, rain or shine. Sizes run from 100 LPH for a home to 1,100 LPH for hotels and hostels, plus pool heat pumps from 18 to 104 kW. We size it, supply it and install it with the tank, booster pumps and connections.
Size by hot water a day, not by bathrooms alone. A rain shower uses two or three times the water of a normal one, and a bathtub can take 200 litres. We count both before we pick the heat pump and tank.
Four steps, running on their own once the controller is set.
A fan draws air over a copper coil. The refrigerant inside picks up the air's heat.
The compressor squeezes the refrigerant, which raises its temperature well above the water's.
The hot refrigerant passes its heat to the water through a tube-in-tube or shell-and-coil exchanger.
A circulation pump moves water between the heat pump and an insulated tank until it reaches the set temperature.
About 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity at rated conditions. The calculator below works out your saving.
It does not depend on sunlight, so cloudy days and monsoon mornings still get hot water.
Water and electricity never meet. The water is heated by refrigerant through a sealed exchanger.
Already have a solar water heater? A heat pump can share the tank and take over when the sun does not.
Move the sliders to your hot water use and electricity price.
Not sure how much you use? A rough start is 50 litres of hot water a person a day. Rain showers and a bathtub need more.
How it works: heating water from 20°C to 55°C takes 1.163 Wh per litre per degree. An electric geyser turns one unit of electricity into one unit of heat. For the heat pump we use 3.5 units of heat per unit of electricity, below its rated 4 (10 kW of heat from 2.5 kW), to allow for cooler mornings and a hot tank. Your weather, tariff and habits change the real figure.
A guide to start from: the heat pump reheats the day's hot water in about four hours. We confirm the size after counting your bathrooms, showers and people at a site visit.
| Where | Hot water a day, about | Heat pump | Tank | Power supply |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flat, 1 to 2 bathrooms | Up to 300 litres | 100 LPH | 250 L | Single phase |
| House, 2 to 3 bathrooms | 300 to 500 litres | 150 LPH | 300 to 500 L | Single phase |
| House, 3 to 4 bathrooms | 500 to 800 litres | 220 LPH | 500 to 750 L | Single phase |
| Large home, rain showers, bathtub | 800 to 1,000 litres | 250 LPH | 1,000 L | Single or three phase |
| Hostel, PG, small hotel | 1,000 to 2,000 litres | 280 to 550 LPH | 1,000 to 2,000 L | Three phase |
| Hotel, hospital, large hostel | Above 2,000 litres | 1,100 LPH, or several units | Sized on site | Three phase |
Large hot water tanks are vented, so the water leaves them at very low pressure. For rain showers on the floors below, we fit a booster pump on the hot line and another on the cold line. With pressure on one side only, the mixer cannot hold the temperature and the shower swings hot and cold.
Hardness scales the heat exchanger and cuts output over time. Above 200 mg/L, the IS 10500 acceptable limit, fit a water softener before the heat pump. Your lab report tells you.

Heat delivered to the water against electricity drawn. 10 kW from 2.5 kW is a ratio of 4, the reason the running cost is low.
Litres of hot water an hour. A 250 LPH unit reheats a 1,000 litre tank in about four hours.
Smaller homes can take a split unit with the tank included: 250, 300 or 500 litres, tested at 6 bar.
Softened and RO water are low in minerals and attack ordinary tanks. Ask for a stainless steel tank if that is what you will feed it.
Keep a pool warm through the cooler months for a fraction of the cost of electric or diesel heating. Pool models use a titanium heat exchanger that stands up to chlorinated water.

A solar heater needs sunlight. A heat pump takes heat from the air, so it gives hot water day and night and through the monsoon. The two can also work together on one tank.
At rated conditions our 10 kW model delivers 10 kW of heat from 2.5 kW of electricity, about a quarter of what an electric geyser uses for the same water. The calculator on this page works out a monthly figure for your use.
It is normally set to 55°C, and can go up to 60°C.
The 100, 150 and 220 LPH models run on single phase. The 250 LPH model comes in single or three phase. The commercial range and the pool heat pumps need three phase.
Yes. Output falls a little when the air is cold, so we size with some margin, and the insulated tank keeps the water hot overnight.
For rain showers, usually yes. A large hot water tank is vented and gives very little pressure. We fit booster pumps on both the hot and the cold lines so the mixers hold their temperature.
Yes. Pool heat pumps from 18 to 104 kW use a titanium heat exchanger for chlorinated water.
Yes. Scale on the heat exchanger reduces output. Above 200 mg/L hardness, fit a water softener before the heat pump.
2 years on the heat pump and 3 years on the storage tank. Booster pumps carry their manufacturer's warranty.

You get two lab reports: a pre-treatment report before we recommend anything and a post-treatment report after installation. Both, worth ₹2,000, are included in the price of your system. You pay ₹1,000 when we take the first sample, and it is adjusted when you order. For example, on a ₹65,000 system you pay the remaining ₹64,000.
