A Puryn iron remover is one FRP tank of MnO2-coated catalytic media fitted between your borewell pump and the overhead tank. It removes dissolved iron and manganese and reduces the rotten-egg smell, with no salt and no cartridges. Two models, both rated at 1,000 litres an hour: manual with a 2-year warranty, and automatic with a 5-year unconditional warranty.
Not sure which model? Most families pick the automatic: it backwashes on its own and carries the 5-year unconditional warranty. The manual suits homes where someone will turn the handle as advised.
Many borewells carry dissolved iron. You cannot see it when the water first comes out; once it meets air it turns to rust, and the signs show up all over the house.
Clear from the tap, yellow after it stands.
Tiles, sinks, buckets, white clothes.
Often comes with iron.
Usually manganese.
Acidic water needs pH correction before the iron remover. The lab report checks pH as well as iron.
Borewell water flows down through a bed of MnO2-coated catalytic media, which turns dissolved iron and manganese into particles and holds them until the next wash.
Filtered water leaves through the centre tube and goes on to every tap in the house.
Every so often the flow reverses and flushes the trapped iron to the drain. On the manual model you turn one handle; the automatic does it on its own.
Same tank, same media, same 1,000 LPH. The difference is who cleans the bed, and the warranty.
Turn the valve handle to backwash, then rinse, and the iron goes to the drain. No electricity needed.
A programmable digital valve runs the backwash and rinse on a schedule our technician sets, whether you are home or away.

1,000 litres an hour covers a house with several taps running at once.
The pump has to push about 40 litres a minute through the tank during the wash. We measure your pump during the test.
Above about 2 mg/L of iron we fit the automatic model with air injection. See all iron systems.

The unit sits between your borewell pump and the overhead tank, so every tap gets treated water. Our technicians fit it with bypass piping, so water keeps flowing while the unit is serviced.
For bathing, washing and cleaning. For drinking water, add a Puryn purifier (e1 to e6).
See e1 to e6An iron remover handles iron, manganese and smell. These pages cover what often comes with them.
We test your borewell water for iron and pH, check the pressure and flow, and then recommend manual or automatic. Both lab reports are included in your price.
No. An iron remover treats water for bathing, washing and cleaning. For drinking water, add a Puryn purifier (e1 to e6) on the kitchen line.
The manual model needs no electricity and you backwash it with one handle. The automatic model backwashes itself on a schedule, so it suits busy homes and houses left empty for long periods, and it carries a 5-year unconditional warranty.
It depends on how much iron your water carries and how much water you use. Our technician sets the schedule after the water test. On the automatic model the valve does it for you.
No. Puryn iron removers use catalytic media, not salt. There is nothing to top up.
Above about 2 mg/L we fit the automatic model with an air injector and air release valve ahead of the tank. Acidic water gets pH correction first.
No. An iron remover deals with iron, manganese and the rotten-egg smell. A softener deals with hardness, the white scale on taps and geysers. Some borewells need both, and your lab report tells us which.
The manual iron remover carries a 2-year warranty and the automatic iron remover carries a 5-year unconditional warranty. Register your unit at puryn.in/warranty after installation.
You get two lab reports: a pre-treatment report before we recommend anything and a post-treatment report after installation. Both, worth ₹2,000, are included in the price of your system. You pay ₹1,000 when we take the first sample, and it is adjusted when you order. For example, on a ₹65,000 system you pay the remaining ₹64,000.
Book a lab test. We check your borewell water and recommend the right iron remover.
