PURYN e1 to e6: which water purifier model should you buy?

Puryn makes six domestic purifiers, e1 through e6, with storage from 9 to 20 litres. The question customers ask is which model is best. The more useful question is which configuration you need, because every model comes in the same two: RO+UV+UF for high-TDS water, and UV+UF for water that is already low in dissolved solids. Settle that first on a water test, then pick the model on storage, mounting and finish.

The decision that actually matters: RO+UV+UF or UV+UF?

Both configurations are designed to deal with bacteria, viruses and cysts. The difference is dissolved solids. RO pushes water through a membrane that rejects most of what is dissolved in it. UV+UF does not touch dissolved solids at all: UF strains out suspended particles and microbes, UV kills what remains alive.

The most useful single measurement is your TDS, confirmed by a proper water test. IS 10500:2012 sets 500 mg/L as the acceptable limit for drinking water. Above it, RO treatment is usually the right recommendation. Comfortably below it, RO removes minerals you had no reason to remove and sends three to four litres down the drain for every litre it makes. Choosing UV+UF when your water allows it is not the budget compromise, it is the correct answer, and on our range it happens to cost roughly half.

This matters in Mangaluru more than most places, because the water genuinely varies. Wells sampled across coastal Dakshina Kannada have run anywhere from 45 mg/L to 3,378 mg/L TDS. Your neighbour’s answer is not your answer.

Where the six models differ

Once configuration is settled, three things separate the models: storage capacity, mounting, and finish. Storage is the one that affects daily life, because it decides how much purified water is waiting for you when the supply is off or the power cuts.

Two things worth noticing in that table

The e2 and the e3 sit in the same part of the range, but the e2 holds 14 litres against the e3’s 9. If you are choosing between those two, you are really weighing the five extra litres, the current price difference, and the e3’s wider colour range. Neither is wrong, but it should be a deliberate choice rather than an accident.

Similarly, the e1 and the e4 sit close together: the e4 gives you 10 litres to the e1’s 9, while the e1 offers eight finishes to the e4’s six. Small differences, but worth a moment; check the current price of each build on the product pages.

Which one suits your kitchen?

• Small family, steady supply: 9 litres is plenty. the e5 is the entry point of the range in both builds, and its UV+UF build is currently the most affordable purifier we sell.
• Larger family, or supply that cuts out: go up in storage. The e2 at 14 litres is the value pick among the wall-mounted units, and the e6 at 20 litres holds more than twice what a 9 litre model does.
• You want the counter and wall kept clear: e6, the only under-sink model, and the largest tank in the range at the same time. It costs more because the plumbing and cabinet are different, and it earns that in a modern kitchen where nothing should be visible.
• You want the widest choice of finishes: e1 or e3, with eight colours each including Copper Gold and Spiritual Gold.

Common questions

Is a more expensive model a better purifier?

Not in terms of water quality. Within the same configuration, e1 and e6 treat water the same way. What the extra money buys is storage capacity and the cabinet, including under-sink mounting on the e6, rather than cleaner water.

How much storage do I actually need?

Storage matters most when your supply or power is unreliable, since the tank is what you draw on while the unit cannot refill. A 9 litre tank covers normal drinking and cooking for a small household. If you are a larger family, or your area sees regular cuts, the 14 litre e2 or 20 litre e6 saves you rationing the last jug.

Can I start with UV+UF and add RO later?

These are separate configurations rather than an upgrade path, so plan for the water you actually have. If your TDS sits near the 500 mg/L line, tell our technician during the test and we will talk through both options honestly.

What if I have iron or very hard water?

Then a purifier alone is the wrong starting point. Iron fouls membranes and hardness scales appliances across the whole house. Those need an iron removal stage or a softener ahead of the drinking-water unit.

Does installation and warranty come with it?

Yes. Every model includes professional installation and a genuine warranty, and you can register it by scanning the QR sticker on the unit after installation.

The order matters. Measure the water, settle RO versus UV+UF on the numbers, then pick the model that fits your kitchen and your budget. Doing it the other way round is how people end up with RO they did not need or a purifier that cannot cope with their borewell.
